Amy & Wade first met in 2007 while both working at Pratt & Whitney. He worked for a repair unit and Amy was his Account Manager for Commercial new part sales. He called her up one day and introduced himself as Wad-ay and immediately cracked her up. They struck up a friendly acquaintanceship and enjoyed working together on several projects until she took a new job working in Military Spares in 2009.
They lost touch until 2011, after a freak leg cramp caused Amy to embarrass herself driving into the parking lot one day. She waved to Wade to get his attention and her leg tensed, then shot out and pressed both the gas and the brake causing her Jeep to buck and rev while he looked confusedly at her and waved sheepishly. She wrote a lengthy apologetic explanation to him, which he found even more entertaining than the incident, and they emailed on and off until August when she again saw him in the parking lot at work, walking to his car, unapologetically singing Jethro Tull at the top of his lungs. She knew then that he was someone special. That he enjoyed life without worry of what other people might think and she admired that tremendously about him. They became Facebook friends and started up a conversation that lasted weeks where they found out they had a lot more in common. They finally exchanged numbers and decided to hang out as friends. Amy would tell Wade over and over again that she would never date him and he would politely agree with her. Wade was there for her during her Mother’s battle with breast cancer, during sad times he would come over and cheer her up with his inappropriate sense of humor, on holidays when they were both alone they’d get together and watch movies. He helped her clean her house and she helped him with his yard work. By the end of October, Wade became comfortable enough in their friendship to introduce her to his kids and she adored spending time with them, too. Over time, their fondness for each other grew and they soon found themselves single at the same time. Amy realized that she didn’t want to lose Wade in her life, ever, for any reason and also realized one day that Wade deserved a woman like her and she deserved a great guy like him. They went on ski trip to Sugarloaf with friends and had dinner with Wade’s parents that weekend and found out that Wade’s Father grew up one town over from where Amy’s Father grew up in upstate New York! It was meant to be. They had a great time at dinner and later that night they kissed for the first time. Since then, Amy has found new ways to surprise Wade with her fiery temper and he continues to keep things spicy with his stubbornness. At the core of their relationship, Wade and Amy truly love each other for who they are and are committed to becoming wrinkly, jowly, crotchety and exploring the wonders of adult diapering together.
